Spring 1 (2025)
In Spring 1 our enrichment day was focussed around culture.
In our school we have children from range of cultural backgrounds - all learning, playing and collaborating side by side. We speak over 30 different languages in school and have children who have origins from all across the globe. Children came dressed in traditional clothing to express who they are!
Being at the heart of a culturally rich and diverse community provides us with an incredible experience to dive deeper into the children's cultures and experiences. The children taught each other languages which they speak, shared their traditional food and discussed what life was like for them!
Have a look at what we got up to!
Year 6 made a fruit salad using traditional fruits from countries across the world.
Creative juices were flowing in Year 4 where children produced some fantastic designs using a traditional paper weaving technique.
In year 5, we looked at what makes up the children's culture, how they are unique and what makes them so amazing! We created our own individual hands that showcase what matters to us, what is different about us, our language and identity. We created this amazing display.
In year 1, children created Guatemalan worry dolls. Local children use these dolls to tell stories and place them under their pillows to keep away bad dreams. The children had a great time making them.
